Feb 9, 2013 - the 2nd day of the northeast blizzard
This Pine Warbler decided to stay for the winter rather than head further south like most other warblers. There are always a few that stay. During the rest of the year they are more often heard than seen, since they spend most of their time hunting around for insects, and nesting in the tops of pine trees. It is the only warbler that besides eating insects, also eats seeds, which might explain how the ones who don’t migrate can manage to get through a New England winter.
